We've broken down our FAQs into sections
Will Writing
Yes. A Will is the only way to ensure your estate is passed on according to your wishes. Without one, the law decides who inherits, which may not reflect your preferences or protect your loved ones.
If you die without a valid Will, your estate will be distributed under the Laws of Intestacy. This means your spouse or close relatives may inherit everything, while unmarried partners, stepchildren or friends could receive nothing.
Our pricing is clear and competitive. Costs depend on the complexity of your needs, such as whether you require a simple Will, mirror Wills for couples, or more advanced planning with trusts and tax advice. Contact us for a no-obligation quote.
Absolutely. You can review and update your Will at any time. We recommend reviewing it every few years or after any major life event such as marriage, divorce, a new child or a change in your finances.
Mirror Wills are typically used by couples who have similar wishes. Each person makes a separate Will that mirrors the other’s instructions, for example leaving everything to each other and then to their children.
An executor is the person who will manage your estate after you pass away. You can choose a family member, friend, or appoint a professional. They should be someone you trust and who is willing and able to take on the responsibility.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
Yes. We offer full support in setting up both types of Lasting Power of Attorney, one for health and welfare and one for property and financial affairs. These documents ensure your wishes are followed if you lose capacity in the future.
An LPA is a legal document that lets you appoint someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you lose mental capacity. There are two types: one for health and welfare, and one for property and financial affairs.
Yes. We offer home visits across the UK, as well as consultations by phone or video call. You can choose the option that suits you best.
It is better to make an LPA while you are mentally capable. Once capacity is lost, it’s too late to create one and your loved ones may face delays and complications in gaining control.
Yes. You can appoint multiple attorneys and decide if they must act together or can act independently. This adds flexibility and reduces the risk of delays.
Trusts
A trust is a legal arrangement that allows you to set aside assets for the benefit of others while specifying how and when they should be used. Trusts can help protect family wealth, reduce inheritance tax or provide for vulnerable beneficiaries.
Trustees manage the trust according to the rules you set out. They are responsible for looking after the assets and acting in the best interest of the beneficiaries.
No. Trusts are useful in many everyday situations such as providing for children, shielding assets from care fees or protecting an inheritance for someone with additional needs.
Document Storage
A Will that is lost, damaged or tampered with may be declared invalid. Secure storage ensures your original document can be easily located and is legally protected when needed.
Yes. We provide a certificate of storage with clear instructions for your executors. This avoids delays and confusion when the time comes.
Yes. If your Will is stored with us, we can help you retrieve your documents and make any necessary updates and changes with our professional team at Just Wills and Legal Services.
Probate and Estate Administration
Probate is the legal process of administering someone’s estate after they die. It involves confirming the Will is valid, identifying assets, paying debts and distributing the estate.
Not always. Whether probate is needed depends on the size and complexity of the estate. We can help you determine if it’s required and support you through the process.
Executors are responsible for carrying out the terms of the Will. This includes collecting assets, applying for probate, settling debts and distributing inheritance to beneficiaries.
Yes. We offer full probate and estate administration services. Our experienced team can handle everything for you, reducing stress at an already difficult time.
